Matty Russell has joined Catalans Dragons from Championship club Oldham for an undisclosed fee until the end of the season.
The experienced Scotland winger will bolster the Super League club’s backline options as he returns to the top level after spending less than three months with the Roughyeds.
Catalans will be Russell’s eighth Super League club after spending last season at Wakefield Trinity where he scored six tries in seven appearances in an injury-hit campaign.
“I’m very excited to have signed for the Catalans Dragons for the upcoming season,” Russell told the club website, external.
“I’ve admired the club for a long time throughout my career and to have the opportunity to represent them now is something I’m really proud of.
“The Dragons’ fast-paced, aggressive style of play suits me perfectly and I can’t wait to get involved and contribute.
“I feel ready and motivated. I believe in my abilities and now it’s about letting my performances speak for themselves throughout the season.”
The 32-year-old, who enjoyed his most prolific period at Toronto where he scored 38 tries in 40 games, passed the career century mark for Trinity last season.
“I’m delighted to welcome Matty to our squad for the rest of the season,” said Catalans head coach Joel Tomkins.
“He has proven himself in Super League and will bring great quality.”
