Ashutosh Rana and Sheeba-starrer Kaushaljis Vs Kaushal is enjoying immense popularity and appreciation from the audience. Currently streaming on Jio Hotstar, the film centers on a son who suggests that his middle-aged parents separate during an argument. The film emphasizes the importance of deep-rooted relationships in contrast to today’s fast-paced mindset. In an exclusive conversation with Etimes, Ashutosh Rana discussed his experience working on the film, the dynamics of relationships, and his own relationship with his wife, Renuka Shahane Rana.
“It’s a beautiful, family-oriented film. This film not only explores the relationship between husband and wife but also sheds light on the bond between children and their parents—as well as their extended family—and how these relationships evolve. It also conveys that when there is a true emotional connection, the bond will never break, come what may,” reflects Ashutosh Rana.Talking about his experience working on the film, he shared,
“I enjoyed playing this role; there is a wonderful blend of characters and story. The emotions and narrative are perfectly interwoven to create a compelling tale. The storytelling is so well executed that everyone feels connected to it. Parents always play a major role in raising their children, and once the children grow up and start living their own lives, there seems to be little left for them. In a sense, they become retired, and the purpose of their lives appears to be discarded, leading them to feel regret over things they once cherished. They begin blaming each other for this void.”He further added,
“As an actor, I feel blessed to portray characters with depth. In the past month alone, I have been part of three released films—’Loveyapa’, ‘Chhaava’, and ‘Kaushaljis Vs Kaushal’—in which I have played diverse roles. I am happy that audiences are receiving them well, and my characters are being talked about and praised.” Renuka Shahane, Ashutosh real-life wife, who has long admired Ashutosh as an actor, felt very good after watching the film. Although she already admired him, after watching Kaushal Vs Kaushal, she appreciated him even more, saying, “Rana ji, you are fantastic.” In fact, she appreciated every character in the film.
Reflecting on his personal relationship with Renuka, Ashutosh shared, “Renuka and I never fight; we simply have differences of opinion. Since we are not identical in our perspectives, we usually exchange our views openly. The extent of her love for me is reflected in her respect for my opinions, just as I respect hers. By honoring each other’s viewpoints, even when differences arise, we deal with them respectfully, communicate effectively, and come to a conclusion. I believe that any conflict can be resolved through communication. It is crucial for anyone to acknowledge, accept, and appreciate one another. We do not believe in fighting; instead, we believe in mending things. As we say, ‘Ladne mein vishwas nahi karte, hum judne mein vishwas karte hain.'”
