Shane Lowry is set to make the cut at the Open despite being handed a two-stroke penalty in his second round.
The incident came on the 12th hole when Lowry was adjudged to have moved his ball when practising his swing in the rough for his second shot.
Ireland’s Lowry finished his round on two-under but has retrospectively had two strokes added to his card.
The penalty leaves Lowry on level-par, one shot above the projected cut line.
Lowry won the Open when it was last played at Royal Portrush in 2019 but the penalty means he is now 10 shots off leader and playing partner Scottie Scheffler.
